Yes, Sunday 24th January 2021 marks the 100th post on this iteration of The Wasteland! This is it – this is the 100th post – ironic and post modern or what!?It has taken just over a year to do so, which makes it a 2 post average a week, and that includes periods during lockdown where either I couldn’t post, or couldn’t be bothered to because it felt like the world was ending… Thank you if have ever read any of it (or at least looked at the pictures) and thank you for keeping faith with it if you return here more than once. I do appreciate it.
There are big plans to improve and upgrade the site, time, energy and investment funds allowing. I don’t yet have a lot of traffic coming through, but I hope to find ways of boosting that soon. I also plan to up my post-rate considerably (that just auto-corrected to prostate, and amused me very much), aiming for something new every day and between 10-15 posts a week. I say that now, let’s see how it goes… but that is the plan.
I will be keeping the same vibe, you know, it’s just me going on about movies and TV and whatever other pop culture I consume. I don’t pretend to be Mark Kermode or anyone doing it impartially. I am very partial, and I won’t stop telling it how I see it. Every review is very much from the point of view of me, and that is staying a thing. It isn’t about being right, or arrogant or aggressively opinionated, I am simply documenting my experiences with media and inviting you to see what I thought. If you disagree and feel moved to comment then do, the comments section is always open on every post!
12 of the Best… articles will hopefully be more regular too. They are the most time consuming, but also the most popular… watch this space, I have some good ones coming up! Bad Movie Triple Bills is also a keeper, simply because I see so many films that are not up to scratch and don’t merit their own post. Hopefully those will gather some support as an entity. I think it is fun to lambast the dull and substandard as much as praise the good stuff!
I also want to start really pushing the idea of The Decinemal System that I use to rate films. It is my own concept, it works for me, other people like it, but don’t always get what it means and how I arrive at the rating number given to each movie. I will post an article that explains it quite soon-ish. I believe in it, and would like to see it become a system used everywhere and not just on my humble blog. Dream big, huh!?
I am starting to use Instagram more and more to promote new posts and The Wasteland in general.
